The so-called 'white city,' known for its large colonial houses built with volcanic stone (sillar), features it majestic city center, which was declared by the UNESCO Cultural Heritage of Mankind. Arequipa lies at the foot of Misti and Pichu Pichu volcanoes; it is a city with beautiful architecture, countryside and rich history.

Its temples like Santa Catalina Convent, portray the half-breed and baroque style; similarly, traditional districts like San Lazaro, Sabandia, Tiabaya, and Tingo, are places not to be missed.

Even though there are very many attractions in Arequipa , we cannot ignore its traditional cuisine. One of the most impressive destinations is Colca Valley and Canyon. Along the way, one may visit the towns of Yanque, Lari and Madrigal. Besides, in the Valley people do adventure sports such as mountain biking, trekking and white water rafting; and at the Cruz del Condor, you may marvel at the sight of the Canyon and the flight of the Condor. Other places of interest in the department include the petroglyphs in Toro Muerto and Cotahuasi Canyon.

Altitude: 2335 m.a.s.l.
