It is known as the city of eternal spring for its privileged climate and festive atmosphere. The current territory of Trujillo was home of the cultures of ancient Peru such as Mochica and Chimu. The beautiful citadel of Chan Chan is only one of the numerous attractions in this beautiful city; this citadel, the largest built with mud in America , was declared by the UNESCO in 1986 cultural heritage of mankind.
Also, there are the impressive 'huacas' (Inca burying sites) of the Sun and the Moon built by the Mochica, which are 20 meters high, and 'El Brujo' (the Wizard) Complex, ornamented with impressive figures of dancers and warriors. The city has also splendid colonial architecture featuring churches, monasteries and colonial houses.
Huanchaco with its traditional 'totora' reed boats is one of the most beautiful beach resorts in Peru.
