Chiclayo is a center for commercial trade between the coast, the highland and the jungle. Here developed the Mochica culture between the I and VII centuries A.D., which is why Lambayeque is currently one of the most interesting archaeological destinations in the country.

Chiclayo is a efficient guardian of the Lord of Sipan, a great Mochica Lord. Besides the archaeological Sipán, you may visit the modern museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipan, which is the home of the most extraordinary golden pieces found in the excavation sites. Tucume is another archaeological place of unique beauty; its more than twenty adobe pyramids of approximately 40 meters of height belonged to the Lambayeque culture and are surrounded by rich fauna and centuries-old vegetation.
